SunPower builds the world’s largest power plant in Montalto di Castro
The Montalto di Castro 84 MW dc solar power plant developed and built by SunPower was, at date if its completion in December 2010, the largest generating power plant in the world. What first sparked interest in this particular site was its set of technical characteristics: good solar radiation and suitable land for photovoltaic parks.
SunPower began working closely with the local community and administrations, holding public conferences to explain its ideas and listen to people’s responses. SunPower has a distinctive approach to developing PV plants: by involving local communities in the process from the beginning, SunPower ensures they will enjoy all the social and ecological benefits that renewable energy systems can provide.
